Are you, or someone you know, new to road cycling and really like the idea of being part of a cycling club? Well our New Year beginner rides might be just what you need.
On the first four Sundays of January we'll be hosting rides suitable for people who are new to road cycling and want to build up to a level where they can regularly take part in our club rides.
The first beginner ride will start at 9am on Sunday 3rd January from the Roehampton Gate cafe in Richmond Park. We'll be riding laps around the park to help you gain confidence of riding with others in a group. You'll learn about road etiquette and hand signals. Don't worry about the pace of the ride - we'll be going at whatever speed is comfortable for the slowest rider.
On Sunday 10th January, like the week before, we'll be riding laps around Richmond Park to help you gain confidence of riding with others in a group. You'll be reminded about road etiquette and hand signals. The pace will be slightly higher than our first beginner ride, but will still be comfortable. No-one will get left behind!
By the third week you should have started to feel more confident about riding as part of a group, and comfortable with road etiquette and hand signals. This week we'll leave Richmond Park and ride a loop down to Cobham and back - roughly 50km in total. We'll be riding at a pace that's comfortable for everyone, and again, no-one will get left behind!
The last of our beginner rides will see us riding approximately 80km out to Windsor and back. Depending on numbers and how confident the group is feeling we may join the regular club ride who'll be heading along the same route. However, the pace will never get too fast and we'll stick to a speed that's comfortable for everyone.
If you're interested in joining these rides, or you know someone who might want to join us - head to our Facebook page and click on the events tab. The rides will be listed there. Just sign up and we'll see you on January 3rd!
